Team Whiteman celebrates Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month

Airman 1st Class Maria Benavente, the Team Whiteman Asian Pacific American Heritage Association president, holds a Seal of Guam necklace on May 28, 2020, at Whiteman Air Force Base, Missouri. Benavente was born in Guam and joined the U.S. Air Force when she was 19 years old. Included in the seal are the Hagatna River, which empties into the sea, a lone coconut palm growing in infertile sand symbolizing determination, and a flying proa, which was a boat that ancient chiefs would be transported in.
