Whiteman AFB takes Lee Summitt family on Pilot for a Day tour
Airman 1st Class Carson Hutson, explosive ordnance disposal apprentice, 509th Civil Engineer Squadron, shows Emil “Batman” Conley, honorary B-2 pilot, Lee Summit, Missouri, how to use a an EOD robot on July 19, 2019, at Whiteman Air Force Base, Missouri. EOD robots are able to roll up to an improvised explosive device and determine its size, components and other features, providing valuable intelligence to personnel. The Pilot for a Day program focuses on providing a child that is suffering with an illness the opportunity to tour Whiteman AFB and experience what it's like to be a B-2 Spirit Stealth Bomber pilot. Whiteman AFB collaborates with St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital to coordinate these tours. (U.S. Air Force photo by Senior Airman Thomas Barley)
