Whiteman AFB takes Lee Summitt family on Pilot for a Day tour

Emil “Batman” Conley from Lee Summit, Missouri smiles as he feels the pressure caused by his anti-gravity suit during the Pilot for a Day tour on July 19, 2019, at Whiteman Air Force Base, Missouri. An anti-g suit is designed to prevent a black-out caused by blood pooling in the lower part of the body when under acceleration, thus depriving the brain of blood. Emil has medulloblastoma, which is the most common malignant brain tumor for children, and accounts for about 20 percent of all childhood brain tumors. Whiteman AFB collaborates with St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital to coordinate these tours. (U.S. Air Force photo by Senior Airman Thomas Barley)
