Little purple globe, new alert system
WHITEMAN AIR FORCE BASE, Mo. - This is a screen shot of the IWSAlerts system alerting people of a weather alert. The little purple globe is an emergency notification system called IWSAlerts Network-Centric Emergency Notification System. The purpose of the IWSAlerts system is to rapidly disseminate information to the base populace. This includes Military and DOD civilians, alerting them of things such as recalls, weather advisories and base closures. (U.S. Air Force graphic)
