Celebrating our Independence

GREENWOOD, Mo. - Maj. Brian Clough, 509th Maintenance Operations Squadron research engineering flight commander, kicks off the fireworks display at the Greenwood, Mo. 19th Annual Independence Day Celebration June 27 with Mr. Dan Van Sickle, president of the city of Greenwood’s park board. Major Clough was selected to initiate the fireworks in honor of deployed and local military members who serve are currently serving and are veterans. “We wanted to make sure that this event reflected the spirit of patriotism,” said Mr. Van Sickle. Other military members who were honored are Chief Warrant Officer 3 John Terry, 1st Infantry Division field artillery officer due to deploy for a third time to Southwest Asia and the Vietnam Veterans Association’s Chapter 243 who also featured a static display of a “Huey” UH-1H helicopter.
