509th firefighters bring the heat
WHITEMAN AIR FORCE BASE, Mo. - Firefighters with the 509th Civil Engineer Squadron use high-pressured hoses to extinguish a burning aircraft trainer during a live-burn exercise, Sept. 2. Enlisted and civilian firefighters battled hot flames for several hours during training in an effort to keep their qualification and skill up-to-date. The exercise is conducted once a year, and firefighters are put into several different scenarios where they are forced to react quickly and accurately.
