509th firefighters bring the heat
WHITEMAN AIR FORCE BASE, Mo. - Airman 1st Class Brian Wiggins, 509th Civil Engineer Squadron firefighter, disconnects a hose from a squadron fire truck during an aircraft live-burn exercise, Sept. 2. Several enlisted and civilian firefighters participated in the simulated fire to keep their qualifications and skills up-to-date. The exercise is conducted once a year, and firefighters are put into several different scenarios where they are forced to react quickly and accurately.
