An inaugural success
WHITEMAN AIR FORCE BASE, Mo. -- Julia Hale nears the finish line during the inaugural Whiteman Youth Track and Field Meet July 14. There were 47 youth, ranging in ages from 5 to 15-years-old who participated in 14 events. “This is the first year we have held a track and field meet for the youth here,” said Mike Orrison, 509th Services Squadron sports and fitness director. "The event was run by many volunteers from different squadrons on base." The highlight of the meet was the youth versus the parents in a 4-by-110-yard tricycle race, Mr. Orrison said.
