Tigers build rapport

WHITEMAN AIR FORCE BASE, Mo. - 1Lt. Shane Erickson, 393d Bomb Squadron, unloads a box from a van July 20. Supplies were relocated from the Reece School warehouse to a storage area at Arwood's furniture store. Volunteers moved boxes in support of the Johnson County teachers warehouse project, which began three years ago between the Warrensburg Chamber of Commerce and the R-VI school district. The Warehouse supports all school districts in Johnson County, including the one on base and the Johnson County Christian Academy. The project accepts supplies from local donors who donated literally anything a teacher could use in their classroom. said Tammy Long, Warrensburg Chamber of Commerce executive director. “Currently, we average 135 teachers per month who shop at the warehouse, and we have had more than $60,000 worth of items taken from the facility this year,” Mrs. Long added. “Our move is taking place so the Warrensburg district can reopen this school in 2009.” (Courtesy photo)
