WHITEMAN AIR FORCE BASE, Mo. – (Center) Col. John Vitacca, 393d Bomb Squadron commander, receives the guidon of the 393d BS from Col. Thomas Bussiere (left), 509th Operations Group commander, during a change-of-command ceremony Oct. 3. Colonel Vitacca, who was previously assigned to the 509th Operations Support Squadron here, replaces Col. Paul Tibbets (right), who moves on to Brussels, Belgium, where he will be the Chief of the Nuclear, Biological and Chemical Policy Branch at NATO Headquarters.
