WHITEMAN AIR FORCE BASE, Mo. ? Clouds race over the 442nd Fighter Wing's A-10 Thunderbolt II?s during the early hours of the morning Oct. 29. The 442nd FW maintains a vast fleet of 27 A-10's. The A-10 is designed to provide close air support for ground forces by attacking tanks, armored vehicles, and other ground targets with a limited air interdiction capability.
