EOD in action

WHITEMAN AIR FORCE BASE, Mo., -- Staff Sgt. Brandon Pfannenstiel, 509th Civil Engineer Squadron Explosive Ordnance Disposal technician, explains the procedures to detonate unexploded ordnance to fellow EOD members, Nov. 30. Whiteman EOD members responded to a UXO discovered in a nearby community. The UXO was an M6 bazooka HEAT round that had been fired sometime ago when the area was an active range. When found, it was deemed too hazardous to move to an explosive ordnance disposal range. The round was detonated by EOD technicians in place.
