Don't get wrapped in energy consumption

WHITEMAN AIR FORCE BASE, Mo. - Whiteman has a specific goal of decreasing energy consumption by 30 percent by 2015 in support of the Air Force's goal to reduce demand, increase the supply and change the culture behind energy management. According to Andrea Goodson, 509th Civil Engineer Squadron chief of asset optimization, 60 percent of electrical energy is used on heating and cooling ventilation every year. She recommends cutting energy use where it counts -- open windows during the summer and use extra blankets during winter months. (U.S. Air Force photo by Senior Airman Kenny Holston)
