Whiteman AAFES stores testing new hours Published Oct. 3, 2014 By Paula Manning-Roybal Army and Air Force Exchange Service WHITEMAN AIR FORCE BASE, Mo. -- AAFES is constantly reviewing hours of operation against the cost in terms of utilities and personnel cost. Express hours will be extending for 90 days by one hour every day to see if the demand for service is there. If the facility is utilized, changes in hours will be permanent. Each day of the week will be evaluated on its merits to determine which days should be extended permanently. Currently, Military Clothing Sales is closed one day a week. Store Manager, Trish Dillon has made the decision to open on UTA weekends to meet customer needs. Mrs. Dillon has been very progressive in her efforts to assist customers with their uniform needs and has expanded her efforts into souvenir clothing. She has also held a base-wide t-shirt design contest with the winning artwork on t-shirts for sale. The Whiteman Theater was renovated in the fall of 2013, at the cost of more than $200,000, including the conversion to the digital format for movies and a new screen and improvements to the sound system. The concession stand was also renovated to expand the offerings and present a better image. With the conversion to the digital format, we have shown some movies on the same day that they released in downtown theaters. Tina Piper, the Food Court and theater manager is always looking for new items to add to the concession stand assortments. The Exchange operates more than 3,100 facilities worldwide, in more than 30 countries, five U.S. territories and 50 states.
