Sergeant participates in Army 10-Miler Published Oct. 30, 2007 By Regina Turner Missouri Army National Guard unit public affairs representative WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Staff Sgt. Michelle Elliott, from Knob Noster, Mo., competed in the 23rd annual Army Ten-Miler as a member of the five-person Missouri Militia mixed-team Oct. 7. The team, who achieved 1st place last year, successfully defended their title in the National Guard mixed-team division this year. Despite the heat and humidity, the top four Missouri Militia team finishers completed the course with a combined time of 4 hours, 51 minutes, 3 seconds. More than 17,600 people, who represented 50 states and 12 countries, participated in the Army's running event. This was the second consecutive year Sergeant Elliot competed in the Army Ten-Miler. She finished the event in an overall time of 1:13:54, and maintained a 7:23 pace. As a member of the National Guard Marathon Team and Team Inertia, she participates in numerous long distance running events throughout the year. Her military service includes two years with the Army Reserves and five years in the Army National Guard. Sergeant Elliot serves as senior Apache section sergeant with the 1107th Aviation Classification Repair Activity Depot, in Springfield, Mo. As a civilian, Sergeant Elliott works as an aviation life support equipment specialist and Apache crew chief at Whiteman Air Force Base. She resides in Knob Noster, with her children Devon and Hallie. Additional members on the 1st place National Guard mixed-team who participated in America's largest 10-mile running event included: Chief Warrant Officers Mitch Simpson and Roger Fillmer, Sgt. 1st Class Kannon John and Staff Sgt. Mark Turner.
