Col Patricia I. McGinnis assumed command of the 509th Mission Support Group from Col. Edward Keegan during a change of command ceremony here July 11.

Brig. Gen. Garret Harencak, 509th Bomb Wing commander, presided over the ceremony.

Colonel McGinnis was previously stationed at Maxwell AFB, Ala., attending Air War College.

As the new Mission Support Group Commander, Colonel McGinnis says her goals are, "... to ensure the 509th MSG remains the best MSG in the galaxy and we always focus on the Wing's number one priority of hunting down and destroying America's enemies.

"Additionally, taking care of our Airman, QoL issues, and family support are high on my priority list," she continued. "Our Airmen are working long hours every day whether from a forward location or here at home, and they deserve the best we can offer in taking care of them and their families."

"As for my command philosophy," she said. "I believe leadership is about setting the example, never expecting those who work for you to do something you don't ask of yourself; serving those I lead by ensuring a common vision or understanding of the mission and making sure people have the skills and resources to excel in performance of their jobs; and lastly to ensure the professional development of our Airmen and civilians as they grow into the future leaders of our Air Force."

Colonel Keegan will continue his service in NORTHCOM Network Operations and Management Division in Colorado Springs, CO.
