Four B-2 Stealth Bombers from the 13th Bomb Squadron, deployed to Anderson AFB, Guam, from Whiteman AFB Feb. 22 and 23 in support of the continuous bomber presence mission in the Western Pacific.

The four month deployment, sixth from Whiteman since March 1998, is led by the 13th Bomb Squadron and includes more than 250 members from the 509th Maintenance Group and 509th Operations Support Squadron.

"Air Expeditionary Force deployments are a way of life in our Air Force and this mission once again demonstrates to the world that the B-2 is ready [24 hours a day, seven days a week] to execute the mission when tasked," said Col. Thomas Bussiere, 509th Operations Group commander. "We launched the main body and our B-2's in support of the continuous bomber presence mission to Anderson Air Force Base in the Western Pacific."

The deployment to the forward location is supporting the deterrent role that is sustained for the United States, which Whiteman has maintained in the Western Pacific region beginning March 1998.

"This weekend, Team Whiteman once again executed our AEF mission with style and determination. We launched the main body and our B-2's in support of the continuous bomber presence mission to Anderson Air Force Base in the Western Pacific," Colonel Bussiere said.

The B-2 Spirit is a multi-role stealth bomber capable of delivering both conventional and nuclear weapons anywhere in the world at any given time.
