The 509th Force Support Squadron was recently named the Air Force Global Strike Command Eugene L. Eubank award winner for 2014.

The Award came from Major Gen. Eugene L. Eubank who acknowledged the importance of morale armed welfare for Armed Forces members. It recognizes the best small installation-level force support squadron in the Air Force. The 509th FSS will now compete for the Air Force level award.

"First and foremost, this is a Team Whiteman Award," said Maj. Chip Hollinger, 509th Force Support Squadron commander. "The 509th FSS provides unrivaled support, sustainment, readiness, and community services to the men, women, and families of the Whiteman community. Being recognized as the AFGSC Maj Gen Eugene L. Eubank Award winner validates our commitment to supporting the 509th Bomb Wing priorities to take care of people and families, create an environment that is healthy and fun, and grow Airmen leaders."

Annually, the Eugene L. Eubank Award recognizes areas of mission accomplishment, leadership, innovation, management, customer focus and customer impact. In addition to the small unit award, the 509th FSS also won three individual awards and four program awards (outlined below):

Force Support Airman of the Year:
SrA Stevenson, Jason S. (509 FSS/FSVF)

Civilian Technician of the Year:
Ms. Rodriguez, Joanne (509 FSS/FSFR)

Family Child Care Provider of the Year:
Ms. Johnson, Kara (509 FSF/FSFF)

Program/Team Awards:
Golf Program of the Year
Professional Development Program of the Year
Resource Management Program of the Year
Youth Program of the Year

"When I first found out that my unit was named the AFGSC General Eugene L. Eubank award winner, the first thing I wanted to do was share the news with my squadron," Hollinger said. "Team FSS earned this award and I wanted to ensure they know their hard work and determination paid off, for both the team and those we serve. I can't .  I can't begin to tell you how blessed I am to command the 509th Force Support Squadron; it is evident that the squadron has a passion for everything they do...without support, mission abort!"
