WHITEMAN AIR FORCE BASE, Mo. -- The 509th Logistics Readiness Squadron earned top honors at the 2024 Air Force Global Strike Command Director of Logistics Readiness Awards, sweeping multiple categories and showcasing their exceptional logistical support.
The squadron was recognized with the prestigious Daedalian Major General Warren R. Carter Logistics Effectiveness Award, highlighting their overall mission effectiveness and logistical excellence. The 509th LRS also secured the Terminal of the Year Award, Category 2, demonstrating their mastery in cargo and passenger movement.
"It’s a privilege to be a part of this team and these outstanding professionals," said Maj. Phillip Wuebold, 509th LRS commander. " These awards are a reflection of the hard work and dedication of every Airman and Civilian in the 509th LRS. We strive every day to be the best team we can be because that’s what’s demanded of us to ensure the B-2 is ready to execute its mission anytime, anywhere."
Individual achievements also contributed to the squadron's success. Billy Haston, a civilian logistician, received the Outstanding AF Logistics Readiness Civilian Category II of the Year Award.

Further demonstrating the squadron's depth, two fuels Airmen were recognized for their outstanding performance. Senior Airman Robert C. Wahl earned the 2F Airman of the Year award, while Staff Sgt. Daisy Alvarez received the 2F Non-Commissioned Officer of the Year award.
The 509th LRS plays a critical role in ensuring the readiness of the B-2 Spirit bomber, a vital component of the nation's strategic deterrence force. Their award-winning performance underscores their commitment to providing unparalleled logistical support to the Air Force's mission.
