Spirit Award Published July 18, 2007 By Whiteman Spirit Award WHITEMAN AIR FORCE BASE, Mo. -- Staff Sgt. Timothy Rigelman, 509th Maintenance Squadron, received the Whiteman Spirit Award from Col. John Robinson, 509th Bomb Wing vice commander, July 16. Cicily Hoover, West 50 Storage manager, nominated Sergeant Rigelman for the award. Sergeant Rigelman assisted an elderly tenant who was in distress after she had fallen while removing items from her unit March 31, Mrs. Hoover said. "Sergeant Rigelman helped her to her feet and loaded the rest of her items for her," Mrs. Hoover said. "He inquired on whether she needed medical assistance and volunteered to help her further if she needed it. When Mrs. Hoover spoke to the tenant about Sergeant Rigelman, she said the tenant thanked him for his help and went on about her way. "She appreciated all the help this young man had given her," she added. "I feel he deserves recognition for his actions in this situation. I feel proud to have him as a tenant and nominate him for this award."
