It was a dark and stormy night. A girl, named Sally, and her brother, Jim, were wandering around in their attic. But they didn't know a "thing" was creeping in the attic too. Sally and Jim were very scared when a monster jumped in front of them. They ran downstairs and yelled, "Mom! Mom! There's a monster in the attic!" but she didn't believe them.

That night they crept back into the attic when it was dark. They set up a net and stood behind it. When the monster came close to the net, SPLAT! The monster was trapped. Sally and Jim saw a line around the monster's neck. Sally yanked on the monster's head and it came off. Jim screamed and said, "Ah! The monster ate Dad." Dad started laughing. Jim and Sally were mad at Dad for playing a trick on them, but they started laughing and gave him a "monster hug."
