WHITEMAN AIR FORCE BASE, Mo. - Maj. Doug Franz, 509th Medical Operations Squadron optometrist, operates a slit lamp bio-microscope to check a patient’s eye health Jan. 12. A slit lamp allows the doctor to spot any ulcers, cornea abrasions or other diseases that may be located in the cornea. The device shines a pin hole light into the surface of the eye as the doctor looks through the scope. The optometry clinic serves active duty and dependents and is open Monday – Thursday from 7:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. and Friday from 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Appointments can be made by calling 687-2188.
