What could be better than a spring day on the green, barbeque buffet, door prizes and prizes for flight teams? How about military members and civilians working hand in hand to raise money benefiting the Whiteman community?

The R.E. Harris Memorial Golf Tournament is at the Royal Oaks golf club April 24, 12 p.m. It is sponsored by the Whiteman Base Community Council, which consists of representatives from the local area and is chartered to support Whiteman personnel.
The tournament pits teams of 3 civilians and one military member playing under USGA rules to raise funds from admission.

"This is a great chance for area communities to interact with base personnel. This is the BCC's main fundraiser for the base, and the money benefits many Whiteman organizations, "said Storm Walker, BCC representative for Cole Camp, Mo. "We in the BCC feel it's up to us to show people at Whiteman mid-Missouri is a great place to live."

The player registration fee is $50, which includes 18 holes of golf, a golf cart and a barbeque lunch. Teams should be three players, and Royal Oaks will select the fourth player for each team. Teams with less than three players will be grouped best as possible. Registration by April 13 is highly encouraged.

Sponsors for the event are welcome, and may support with a cart, hole or prize sponsorship. Sponsors can be provided signage if registered by April 6.
Volunteers are needed for the registration desk, prize organization score registration and flight designations, and must register by April 17.

Gift bags for quarterly and annual award winners, free lunches for air show volunteers and donations totaling $2300 for wing holiday parties, luaus, Airman's Council and the Airman and Family Readiness Center are only a few of the contributions made by the BCC.

Help the heart of Missouri support their military community: sign up and tee off for 18 holes of Spring-time fun April 24, 1 p.m. with the Base Community Council. And bring a barbeque bib.
