Aug. 10 marked the end of the Nuclear Operational Readiness Exercise for Team Whiteman.

All 509th Bomb Wing units were key players including the Wing Anti-Terrorism Officer, Robert Striegel.

"Watching the Civil Engineer and Logistics Readiness Squadron implement the barrier plan was
very impressive... they completed the task far earlier than anticipated," said Mr. Striegel.

The NORE is in preparation of the combined Nuclear Surety Inspection and Nuclear Operational Readiness Inspection that is scheduled for Oct. 11. Mr. Striegel's role in the NORE was significant.

As a member of the Crisis Action Team and the Threat Working Group, he coordinated with the Office of Special Investigations, Security Forces and Wing Intel. He provides recommendations to the Wing leadership on all issues pertaining to force protection.

Objectives of the NORE were to evaluate and practice aircraft generation procedures as well as to exercise Crisis Action Team operations and Execute and evaluate limited Bomber Strategic Aircraft Recovery Team procedures with north ramp deployment.

"Overall the NORE was a huge success," said Mr. Striegel. "The collaboration of all wing agencies ensured its success."
