NORI in full-swing Published Oct. 14, 2009 By Staff Sgt. Dilia Ayala 509th Bomb Wing Public Affairs WHITEMAN AIR FORCE BASE, Mo. -- The Nuclear Operational Readiness Inspection is currently in full-swing. The Air Combat Command Inspector General Team arrived earlier this week to conduct the inspection. A Total Force Integration effort, Active Duty and Guard members of the 131st Bomb Wing, have been working around the clock, showcasing Whiteman's ability to manage nuclear resources and taskings. "I am very proud of everyone's hard work and dedication thus far," said Brig. Gen. Robert Wheeler, 509th Bomb Wing commander. "I need everyone's continued focus and dedication as the 509th completes its inspection this week and the 442nd Fighter Wing revs up for their inspection. "I have full faith the 509th is ready. We are more than ready," said General Wheeler. "This inspection will allow the IG team to validate that we are responsible stewards of a critical strategic capability and a zero-defect mission." As the NORI continues over the next two weeks, Team Whiteman member's continued vigilance is stressed. Many may still be asked to show their ID, park further away from their duty locations and other security practices, as Force Protection measures change during the inspection.
