Tech Sgt. Gloria Rapkin, 509th Medical Operations Squadron aerospace medical service technician, along with 44 other Airmen Air Force-wide, were selected by a board of Air Force officers for the Nurse Enlisted Commissioning Program.

Sergeant Rapkin was honored to be selected for the program.

"I have never felt so honored," she said. "I'm still walking on cloud-nine at the thought of being considered and selected to serve my country as an officer."
She will attend the NECP in fall 2010.

"I'm looking forward to the challenge and what will come from the accomplishment," Sergeant Rapkin said.

The NECP offers active duty enlisted personnel the opportunity to earn a bachelor's degree in a high demand academic major. Airmen must meet graduation requirements within 24 months.

Airmen who successfully complete course requirements for the program must then pass the National Council Licensure Examination and attend the Commissioned Officer Training and the Nurse Transition Program.

For more information on this and other commissioning opportunities, visit the Air Force Personnel Center personnel services website or call the Total Force Service Center at 1-800-525-0102.
