The 2010 Wings Over Whiteman Air Show and Open House takes place Sept. 18 and 19 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. This free, family-oriented event is expected to draw spectators from all over the region.

"It's my pleasure to invite the public to attend Wings Over Whiteman 2010 to get an up close and personal look at the professional personnel and capabilities that help our Airmen carry out missions across the globe," said Brigadier General Robert Wheeler, 509th Bomb Wing commander.

"This year is going to be an outstanding show with our theme being 'Celebrating 100 years of military aviation,'" said Lt. Col. Michael Wittrock, WOW Air Show director. "We also have two great headliners in the Thunderbirds and the Golden Knights. People can expect a great variety of aircraft focusing on the history of military aviation. We carefully selected performers and aircraft to cover each major conflict U.S. airpower has been involved in, as well as ensured the Army and Navy were represented along with the Air Force."

Featured civilian performers include; the Lima Lima flight team, P-51, MiG-17 and the PT-17 aerobatic teams. Along with the aerial demonstrations and static displays, all aircraft that call Whiteman home, to include; the B-2 Spirit, T-38 Talon, A-10 Thunderbolt II and AH-64 Apache Helicopter will be available for viewing.

Replica WWI aircraft, the only flying B-29, a Vietnam War re-enactment and modern day aircraft will also be in attendance at the show.

Gates open at 9 a.m. and designated parking areas will be open to the public. Busses will make regular stops to transport spectators from the parking area to the air show.
