Local school districts earn distinction Published Nov. 2, 2010 By Heidi Hunt 509th Bomb Wing Public Affairs WHITEMAN AIR FORCE BASE, Mo. -- The Knob Noster, Warrensburg and Henry County (Windsor) Missouri school districts earned Distinction in Performance set by the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education announced Oct. 8. The Knob Noster school district educates the majority of Whiteman's military dependents followed by Warrensburg and then Henry Co., having made the list. The annual performance reports provide a five-year review on the progress of each school district as measured by the 14 state-wide academic performance standards. "This is a high achievement and a big deal for schools," said Chi Anne McGrew, 509th Force Support Squadron school liaison officer. "It means that these schools had to meet at least 13 of 14 performance standard requirements. "Our military children are being well taken care of." "We are very proud of our students," Dr. Margret Anderson, Knob Noster R-VIII School District added. "Based on their accomplishments, the district received all the points possible on our annual performance report earning an accreditation with distinction rating for the seventh year in a row. "We are very proud of the hard work and effort of students and staff and encourage them to keep up it up," Dr. Anderson said. Deborah Orr, Warrensburg superintendent said the district is also proud to be recognized as a Distinction in Performance district. "This latest recognition is the ninth time our district has received this honor," Orr said. "We believe it is an excellent reflection of the work of our students, our staff and our community. Student success requires the combined efforts of many people and the support of an education-minded community." Other schools in the local area to earn a spot on the list include Green Ridge, Holden and Sweet Springs.
