The annual tree lighting ceremony was held at Mission's End, marking the beginning of this year's holiday celebrations Dec. 1.

More than 250 were in attendance and awaited the decorated tree outside Mission's End in conjunction with a Menorah lighting, marking Hanukkah. Military members, civilians and their families were invited to witness and take part in the event.

Following an invocation from Chaplain (Capt.) Jeffery Scott, Brig. Gen. Scott Vander Hamm, 509th Bomb Wing commander, gave a welcome speech before lighting the tree, which was the done by inviting children to help turn on the switch.

Following the tree lighting, members of Team Whiteman were given refreshments. A children's bingo was held for children of all ages.

The program was hosted by the Whiteman Community Activity Center, Mission's End, the 509th Force Support Squadron Marketing Department and the Youth Center. The event was sponsored by Northrop Grumman.
