The 509th Force Support Squadron's fitness center will be hosting their annual Wing Fitness Day event Jan. 6 from 10 a.m. to 3 p. m. The event will be used to introduce new instructors and their classes and demonstrate various fitness center activities.

"We as military members need to be fit to fight and Wing Fitness Day promotes that by offering classes that spark interest in fitness," said Master Sgt. Robert Cerda, 509th FSS fitness center section chief. "Everything that the fitness center offers, we will have on that day."

The event will be free and open to both military and civilians. Some of the classes that will be held include Zumba, Psycho Blast, Lunchtime Blitz, Boot Camp and Extreme Military Training.

Representatives from various base agencies, such as the Airman and Family Readiness Center, the Health and Wellness Center, the Sexual Assault Response Coordinator and Family Advocacy, will present display boards to demonstrate their missions and provide points of contact.

"Not only is Wing Fitness Day introducing fitness programs, but it also introduces different programs throughout the base," said Staff Sgt. Angela Gooden.

More than 200 individuals throughout the base community attended 2011's Wing Fitness Day. Members of the fitness center staff are looking forward to exceeding that number in 2012.

Wing Fitness Day will also show what members of the base community can look forward to on a daily basis, according to Cerda.

"There are many fitness exercises and fitness classes that are enjoyable to take," Cerda said. "You can come get fit and enjoy yourself in the process."
