Construction at Spirit Gate (Main Gate) is scheduled to begin March 16.

There will be one inbound and outbound lane throughout the duration of the construction. Base officials expect this will cause traffic delays in the coming weeks.

During peak hours, base members are encouraged to use Arnold Gate (also “North Gate”), via J Highway/S. State St. in Knob Noster, which will be operating 24/7 throughout the construction. The visitor center will remain accessible and operations will not be affected.

Members of the local community should be aware of possible increased traffic congestion at the Spirit and Arnold Gates. The LeMay Gate will only be open for commercial traffic.

“We appreciate everyone’s patience and understanding with any inconvenience the construction at our main gate may cause,” said U.S. Air Force Col. Christopher Callis, 509th Mission Support Group commander. “Our civil engineers and contract partners will be working diligently to ensure this project progresses as planned. This project will create enhancements to better protect Airmen, families and assets of the 509th Bomb Wing going forward.”
