USSTRATCOM deputy commander to present Omaha Trophy to Team Whiteman

Vice Admiral David Kriete, deputy commander of United States Strategic Command, is scheduled to present the Omaha Trophy to the 509th Bomb Wing during a ceremony beginning at 9 a.m., at Whiteman Air Force Base.

The Omaha Trophy, sponsored by Omaha’s Strategic Command Consultation Committee, is awarded annually to four outstanding units that represent USSTRATCOM’s mission areas, their role in global operations and USSTRATCOM’s continued emphasis on strategic deterrence. Selections are based on formal evaluations, meritorious achievement, safety and other factors such as community involvement and humanitarian actions.

The four awards given are the Global Operations, Intercontinental Ballistic Missile, Submarine Ballistic Missile and Strategic Aircraft Operations trophies. The 509th Bomb Wing was awarded the trophy in the Strategic Aircraft Operations category. More on the award here.
