WHITEMAN AIR FORCE BASE, Mo. - Maj. Doug Franz, 509th Medical Operations Squadron optometrist, uses a binocular in-direct ophthalmoscope to look into a patient’s retina for eye disease Jan. 12. Dr. Franz wears the device on his head which aligns a microscope in front of his eyes allowing him to look into the lens he holds over the patients’ eye and direct light into the retina. The optometry clinic serves active duty and dependents and is open Monday – Thursday from 7:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. and Friday from 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Appointments can be made by calling 687-2188.
