WHITEMAN AIR FORCE BASE, Mo. – Members of the Whiteman and Sedalia fire departments perform search-and-rescue operations for victims within the rubble from an imploded house during the Major Accident Response Exercise March 10. The MARE exercise encompassed all base facilities and personnel with the exception of Whiteman Elementary School. In coordination with the Army Corps of Engineers, the 509th Bomb Wing Plans and Scheduling office used an old base housing unit that was scheduled for demolition to give emergency responders real-world experience of a house that has been hit by a tornado. This exercise was a community joint effort for disaster relief. (U.S. Air Force photo/Staff Sgt. Charles Larkin)
