WHITEMAN AIR FORCE BASE Mo. - Left to right: Chief Master Sgt. Brian Hornback, 509th Bomb Wing command chief, Senior Airman Nicholas Sheff, 509th Maintenance Squadron, and Senior Master Sgt. Bill Davis, 509th MXS and Top 3 president, present the Whiteman Top 3 Association Most Valuable Player Award to Airman Sheff Aug. 16. Airman Sheff was instrumental in repairing a $6-million test station and obtained permission to complete five depot-level repairs. He also had two technical order changes approved saving the Air Force $500,000 per year. He volunteered for a deployment to Qatar to prevent his peers from leaving their families over the holidays, manages the flight's safety and security programs and was the first avionics test station and components apprentice at Whiteman to be upgraded to his 5-skill level in less than 12 months. The Top 3 MVP award is given each month to any staff sergeant or below throughout the wing. This is the Top 3's way to formally recognize an enlisted individual who epitomizes mission accomplishment, teamwork and esprit de corps for the men and women of the 509th Bomb Wing.
