Whiteman AFB Airman pronounced dead after base pool incident

An Airman assigned to the 509th Logistics Readiness Squadron was pronounced dead after an incident at the outdoor base pool on June 20, 2021.

Airman 1st Class Zixuan Fang was pronounced dead at Western Missouri Medical Center. The cause of the incident remains under investigation.

“Airmen are the core of what we do here at Whiteman and the loss of one of our own will always be extremely difficult,” said U.S. Air Force Col. Daniel Diehl, 509th Bomb Wing commander. “This is a traumatic event for everyone, especially those who knew Zixuan. My deepest condolences go out to his family, friends and Wingmen.”
