A select group of Public Affairs Airmen assigned to the 509th Bomb Wing and total-force associates work diligently to document the mission of Team Whiteman and offer comprehensive, behind-the-scenes mission coverage of all units on base. We make this material available for public use and information via the Defense Visual Information Distribution Service, DVIDS.

DIVDS is a state-of-the-art, 24/7 operation owned by DMA (Defense Media Activity) that provides a timely, accurate and reliable connection between the media around the world and the military serving at home and abroad.

It enables media outlets to receive immediate, first-hand information and interviews with commanders and subject matter experts directly involved with fast-breaking news. What will you find on DVIDS?

- Products provided in a timely manner via internet distribution and satellite broadcasts.
- Broadcast-quality video from the field.
- A searchable archive of video, photo, print and audio products for interested media and military communities.

Strength Through Truth: DVIDS provides an accurate, reliable source for media organizations to access U.S. service members and commanders deployed in support of military operations worldwide. The National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2013 amended the Smith–Mundt Act and the Foreign Relations Authorization Act of 1987, allowing for materials produced by the State Department and the Broadcasting Board of Governors (BBG) to be released within U.S. borders and striking down a long-time ban on the dissemination of such material in the United States. This legislation basically states that we must ensure the information we release is factually accurate. It's part of a broader collection of anti-propaganda laws.
