Sgt. Arnold Anderson

Sgt. Arnold Anderson, 13th Bomb Squadron, enlisted in the Army Air Force Jan. 10, 1942, and separated from military service Oct. 2, 1945. Mrs. Patricia Gunn, an amateur historian from Cincinnati, Ohio became interested in Sergeant Anderson’s WW II history because she had lived at Camp Chinen, from 1956-60 and attended Awasi and Naha elementary Schools in Okinawa, Japan, eleven years after the end of WW II. Mrs. Gunn received an inquiry from Sergeant Bruce Buchan from Melbourne, Australia, in January 2001 after he read signatures, comical comments and WW II jargon posted by Sergeant Anderson and other U.S. veterans in a services club register. Sergeant Bruce was curious to know if known Sergeant Anderson or any of the other U.S. veterans were still alive. Sergeant Anderson passed away March 16, 2001. (Photo courtesy of Sue Hammett)
