Whiteman AFB takes Lee Summitt family on Pilot for a Day tour
Tech. Sgt. Christopher Lineberry, quality assurance, 509th Operations Support Squadron, assists Emil “Batman” Conley from Lee Summit, Missouri, with putting on an egress system harness during the Pilot for a Day tour on July 19, 2019, at Whiteman Air Force Base, Missouri. Aircrew flight equipment specialists perform maintenance and coordination of seats, hatches, canopies and modules, to ensure that pilots can make a safe escape in case of emergency. Emil has medulloblastoma, which is the most common malignant brain tumor for children, and accounts for about 20 percent of all childhood brain tumors. Whiteman AFB collaborates with St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital to coordinate these tours. (U.S. Air Force photo by Senior Airman Thomas Barley)
