WHITEMAN AIR FORCE BASE, Mo. --

**Team Whiteman AFAF key workers will no longer be soliciting face-to-face for donations. Key workers will continue to push information strictly through electronic means. If donating through electronic means, Team Whiteman members should forward receipts to a key worker within their organization in order to accurately track donations for the base. The AFAF campaign has been extended to May 8.**

The 2020 Air Force Assistance Fund campaign season starts March 9 and ends April 17, offering Airmen an opportunity to show their support for fellow wingmen and fund support programs benefiting the Air Force community.

The AFAF comprises four charitable organizations that specifically support Airmen and their families (active duty, retirees, reservists, guardsmen and dependents, including surviving spouses). The four charities include the Air Force Aid Society, the LeMay Foundation, Air Force Villages Charitable Foundation and the Air Force Enlisted Village.

Ms. Joanne Rodriguez, work/life consultant at Whiteman AFB, said the AFAF is different from other charitable causes in that its funding directly and exclusively supports fellow Airmen.

AFAF funds are reliant on contributions and generosity of fellow Airmen, who can provide a one-time contribution, or they can request a recurring monthly payroll deduction.

“The AFAF provides support to Airmen and their families in emergencies, as well as with educational needs,” Rodriguez said. “[The AFAF also] helps secure retirement funds for widows and widowers of Air Force members in need of financial assistance.”

The campaign kicks off with an event at the Star and Stripes Bowling Alley March 6, 2020, at 7:30 a.m.-9:00 a.m., where program representatives invite Airmen to receive more information on how to contribute while enjoying free breakfast burritos.

Service members interested in supporting AFAF this year should keep an eye out for their unit program coordinator or key worker for more information. There is also the option to contribute online at https://www.afassistancefund.org/.
