WHITEMAN AIR FORCE BASE, Mo. --
Chief Master Sgt. of the Air Force Kaleth O. Wright visited Airmen stationed at Whiteman Air Force Base, October 6-8, 2019.
Chief Wright is the Air Force’s top enlisted leader and provides direction to the entire enlisted force.
Wright visited the Professional Development Center and Honor Guard, and met with Airmen from the 509th Medical Group, Operations Group and Maintenance Group.
Each group of Airmen shared their personal experiences and how they have used opportunities at Whiteman AFB to develop personally and professionally.
Additionally, Wright learned how each Airman contributes to the strategic B-2 Spirit mission and dispensed some insight of his own, emphasizing the need to balance mission contributions with self-care.
“I understand and wholeheartedly believe in the art of mastery through our exercises because that’s how we get good, that’s how we’ve become the best air force on the planet,” said Wright. “But I also believe that in this thing called self-care.”
He encouraged Airmen to take special care of themselves through exercise, proper diet, sleep, and maintaining a work-life balance.
During a base all-call and Q&A session on October 8th, Wright discussed resiliency, the current direction of the Air Force and the total force mission.
Wright underscored the importance of Air Force Global Strike Command Airmen in global strategy.
“Air Force capabilities such as aerospace superiority, rapid global mobility, command and control, Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance and agile combat support are all underwritten by nuclear deterrence and the ability to strike any target, anywhere on this planet at any time,” said Wright. “So I believe that will always be one of the core components of our Air Force.”
Airmen in the audience asked Wright questions about issues facing them. Topics included self-motivation, evaluation systems in the Air Force, and healthy lifestyles.
After responding to Airmen’s questions, Wright closed by saying, “I believe in your mission here at Whiteman Air Force Base and I believe in you.”
