Welcome to Whiteman

Whiteman Air Force Base is home to the 509th Bomb Wing, the 442nd Fighter Wing, the 131st Bomb Wing, the 1-135th Assault Helicopter Battalion, as well as many other vital units that stand ready to serve the nation.

Whiteman holds the distinction as the only B-2 Spirit base in the world, and is rich in historical heritage. The base maintains not only a vital deterrence and assurance mission, but also a robust relationship with the many supportive communities in the area.

As you arrive at the home of the world's premier stealth bomber, know that you are about to become part of a unique tradition of superiority and excellence, at a base that traces its beginnings to the days of World War II.

You are about to become part of Team Whiteman.

Arrival

Individuals can access Whiteman AFB through two gates. Newcomers are encouraged to enter at the Spirit Gate, directly off Hwy 23, for information and directions.

All vehicles are required to stop for an identification check. Visitors without DOD identification cards will be asked to proceed to the visitor's center. Drivers will be asked to present a copy of their orders, a valid driver's license and military ID card to obtain passes.

The gate guard can direct you to the 24-hour central arrival point at the Whiteman Inn, Bldg. 3011. This office will assist in contacting sponsors.

After checking in at the central arrival point, individuals should report to their gaining unit orderly room. Members will receive their appointment time from their orderly room for the Whiteman Welcome Center (it is the responsibility of the CSS and Sponsor to coordinate the appointment prior to the members' arrival).

The Whiteman Welcome Center will ensure you and your family in-process through Military Personnel, Finance and Medical. Family members are encouraged to attend!

During in-processing, you'll be given a schedule for required briefings and times they will be conducted.

Commissary and BX

Commissary

The Commissary is a modern supermarket serving the needs of active duty, retirees, reserve and Guard members and their families. They offer a complete line of meat, produce, grocery, baker and deli items.

Items are sold at cost, with an added 5 percent surcharge to pay for remodeling and construction of new commissaries. A regular patron can save more than $2,000 each year shopping at the commissary.

Shoppers must show appropriate ID cards when making purchases. The commissary has self-employed baggers to assist patrons with their purchase. Baggers are not commissary employees and work for tips only.
