509th Mission Support Group

The 509th Mission Support Group is comprised of six squadrons with more than 1,800 Air Force and contract personnel in the Air Force's only B-2 wing. The group provides support for emergency operations, readiness, security, construction, communications, fire protection, human resources, food services, fuels, transportation, supply and family support.

Civil Engineer Squadron

The 509th Civil Engineer Squadron maintains and operates a 4,916-acre base complex. CE provides engineering, alterations and new construction, fire protection, disaster response and explosive ordnance disposal services. 

The unit maintains real property, protects and conserves natural resources, supports 1,129 housing units and manages contracts in support of B-2, A-10, T-38 aircraft and AH-64 aircraft. Members of this squadron deploy worldwide in support of war mobilization plans.

Contracting Squadron

The 509th Contracting Squadron provides contracting support for installation and tenant unit commanders to maintain worldwide combat readiness/sustainability, in accordance with statutes, and to implement regulations in the most cost-effective manner. 

The unit's mission is to execute responsive and compliant business solutions that enable Team Whiteman to accomplish the Global Strike, Intelligence Surveillance Reconnaissance, Combat Air Support and Aerial Reconnaissance and Surveillance missions; develop and equip tomorrow's contracting leaders through comprehensive on-the job-training.

Communications Squadron

The 509th Communications Squadron provides effective and innovative communications information services and expert combat support for more than 5,000 personnel at Whiteman Air Force Base.

The unit provides trained and ready communication-information professionals in support of air and space expeditionary force requirements. They support the nation's B-2 fleet, both in-garrison and deployed to forward operating locations; an A-10 wing; an attack helicopter battalion; and naval special warfare/intelligence units.

Force Support Squadron

The 509th Force Support Squadron directs all personnel support for the 509th Bomb Wing. The unit supports both the military and civilian populace to ensure that B-2 combat capability is available anytime, anywhere. 

Force Support consists of five flights, which include military and civilian personnel offices, the Airmen and Family Readiness Center, Education Center, Airmen Leadership School and the dining facility. FSS is also responsible for many of the support programs and morale events sponsored on-base.

Logistic Readiness Squadron

The 509th Logistics Readiness Squadron provides time-sensitive transportation of personnel, household goods, aircraft components and general-purpose cargo. 

The 509th LRS provides primary supply, equipment and fuels support to B-2, A-10 and T-38 aircraft. They plan/implement the wing's wartime mobility taskings. The unit manages and maintains a $38 million, 650-vehicle fleet, and also manages and stores more than $716 million in mission-critical materiel for more than 54 organizational units.

Security Forces Squadron

The 509th Security Forces Squadron provides security for all personnel, protection-level resources and other base assets assigned to the 509th Bomb Wing and tenant units on Whiteman Air Force Base. 

The skilled professionals of the 509th SFS defend stealth firepower, U.S. resources, and the Whiteman community, "Anytime ... Anywhere," with 24-hour security coverage using mobilized patrols and static posts within the base.
