Record-setting engine

A TF-34-100A turbo-fan engine, number 5036, awaits final preparations by 442nd Aircraft Maintenance Squadron crew chiefs prior to its removal from A-10 Thunderbolt II, tail-number 605, June 2, 2009, at Whiteman Air Force Base, Mo. This engine set a longevity record for the 442nd Fighter Wing after remaining in service on the same airplane for 10 years. The 442nd Fighter Wing is an Air Force Reserve unit based at Whiteman.
